Nokica Networks wanted to demonstrate at Mobile World Congress 2017 that 5G wasn't just the next "G" but had the potential to completely transform and disrupt how society and industries connect. Nokia Networks is a powerhouse in the Service Provider market with massive mindshare, but Mobile World Congress attracts 100,000 people and hundreds of media. Our challenge was to rise above the noise and create a way to attract a small, but elite, group of North American media that have a sole focus was on the Service Provider market.
This specialized media group has minimal bandwidth for covering companies outside of the large carrier space. The task of keeping up with Verizon and AT&T alone is a full-time job. Connect secured their attention by providing offers of exciting 5G demos with an offer to discuss the future of 5G with c-level executives.
The strategy was successful and Nokia Networks secured 61 articles in the North American trade press pertaining to Nokia's presence at Mobile World Congress. The articles conveyed Nokia's thought leadership in 5G and created a path for an on-going dialogue related to the future possibilities of 5G.
